This overview course answers essential questions about PTSD. The presenter will outline the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, explain risk factors for developing PTSD, and describe the most effective PTSD treatments to team members as recommended by the VA/DoD PTSD Clinical Practice Guideline for PTSD (2017).The purpose of this knowledge-based course is for team members to review video clips of Veterans describing their PTSD symptoms and clinicians explain treatment approaches such as Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.

Veteran suicide remains a significant public health concern, with those diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at potentially elevated risk. This recorded, virtual, knowledge-based webinar will review factors driving risk among those with PTSD within the context of leading theoretical models of suicide. We will discuss empirically-supported methods of assessing and intervening upon suicide risk within the context of evidence-based treatment.

This module provides an overview of tobacco cessation approaches, and how scientific evidence is applied to support everyday clinical decision-making. Users of this module will learn about the epidemiology of tobacco and nicotine-based products, the underlying neuroscience of nicotine addiction, and assess pharmacologic and behavioral approaches to enable patients to quit their use of them. This comprehensive course addresses the mandatory content for Physician Assistants and APRNs in Florida registered to prescribe Schedule II, III and/or IV controlled substances as allowed by Florida law, effective January 1, 2017. The course was originally presented during a FMA meeting on December 3, 2021.  The content of this 3-hour course encompasses the required course for all DEA-authorized prescribers in Florida, including allopathic physicians, osteopathic physicians, dentists, podiatrists, and optometrists.
