In this lecture, we will describe the continuum of sexual exploitation, including sexual or gender-based discrimination, harassment and abuse. We will discuss power dynamics that exist in medicine and medical education, including ways to decrease the power differentials for a safer working and educational environment. Additionally, we will review what to do when faced with harassment, including a discussion of employer responsibilities in the prevention, investigation, and corrective measures of sexual misconduct.
