Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  • Explain the epidemiology of pain and opioid-related harm in the US, with a focus on adolescents and young adults ("youth")
  • Describe treatment of acute and chronic pain according to evidence-based guidelines and prescribe opioids in a manner that reduces the likelihood of risk for long-term opioid use and addiction
  • Summarize evidence-based screening and treatment for youth with opioid use disorder
