Overview
This presentation will cover best psychosocial practices for primary care offices as they care for patients who may be LGBTQIA+. We will focus on creating an affirming practice, from wall art to pronouns!
Learning Objectives
- Identify affirming terminology when providing care for patients who may be LGBTQIA identified
- Discuss strategies for creating a safe and affirming clinical environment
- Discuss how implicit and explicit bias may adversely affect the mental health of patients who may be LGBTQIA identified
- Identify disparities within various health care and other systems for patients who may be LGBTQIA, as well as the role of resilience and community support in mitigating these disparities
