Pain Management FAQs: Mastering the Art of Treating Pain

Clinicians who manage patients with painful conditions have many practical questions regarding the various treatment modalities—ranging from nonpharmacologic options to non-opioid therapies and opioid prescribing; they also seek information on the identification of risk for opioid use disorder (OUD) along with the management and referral of patients with OUD. In this activity, Dr. Katherine Galluzzi addresses many questions that participants in Pri-Med CE/CME activities on pain management have asked, providing practical and actionable answers.

  • Identify risk factors and stratification for opioid-related aberrant behavior and opioid use disorder as part of the initial assessment
  • Identify strategies for ongoing, safe, and effective use of opioids in patients with chronic pain, including titration, referral, and discontinuation, when appropriate
