Use it to better prepare for Sports Medicine module of the ABFM recertification examination as well as the certification/recertification examination for the Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine.
Approved for up to 28.5 AAFP Prescribed credits. CME credit is approved through February 12, 2023.
Upon completion of this CME activity, you should be able to:
- Assess injured bones or soft tissue to determine the stage and severity of the injury.
- Demonstrate proficiency in examination techniques, including range of motion, stability, bone alignment and assessment of soft tissue swelling/masses.
- Evaluate and diagnose common musculoskeletal conditions and diseases.
- Prepare evidence-based treatment recommendations for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic strategies.
- Counsel patients who participate in organized sports or rigorous athletics on injury avoidance and use of protective gear.
This Enduring Material activity, Musculoskeletal and Sports Care 10th Edition, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 28.5 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Term of approval begins February 13, 2020. Term of approval is for 3 years from this date. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The AAFP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
