Menopause and Hormone Therapy

After completing this case the reader should be able to:

- Appropriately select hormone therapy, particularly estrogen-alone therapy, for postmenopausal women without a uterus.
- Counsel postmenopausal women regarding the risks and benefits of, and alternatives to, hormone therapy.
- Summarize changes in the updated North American Menopause Society guidelines on menopause, especially regarding hormone therapy.
- Describe the effectiveness of hormone therapy for vasomotor symptoms and symptoms of the genitourinary syndrome of menopause, as well as for bone loss and fracture prevention.
