Integrating GLP-1 RAs Into T2DM Treatment

Overview

In this educational initiative, meet 4 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Review the cases and decide which of these patients could benefit from glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) therapy. Then, review the glycemic and extraglycemic effects of GLP-1 RAs and explore strategies for addressing common patient concerns with GLP-1 RA treatment.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Apply current evidence regarding the use of GLP-1 RAs to treatment decisions for patients with T2DM
  • Incorporate interview techniques to guide patient-centered discussions about individuals’ concerns related to GLP-1 RA therapy to maximize treatment adherence and persistence
