Over-the-counter medications (OTC) are readily available for patients to self-treat, and pain from osteoarthritis is one of the common indications patients may seek OTC care is for is pain from osteoarthritis. In these situations, the patients are often older adults who are generally more vulnerable to intolerances and adverse effects. It is important to understand the potential benefits of OTC options, including agents like acetaminophen and nonsteroidals, nutraceuticals like collagen and turmeric, and others whichthat have become more mainstream, like cannabis and kratom.
