BLS –Basic Life Support
The goal of this activity in intended to provide instructional material to physicians and other healthcare professionals to guide them in how to complete basic life-saving skills. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to analyze a cardiac medical emergency and implement basic life-saving skills to increase victims' chance of survival.
Please note: some organizations require your BLS certification to be completed in person. Please check with your hospital or organization to confirm that this online course is eligible to renew your BLS certification.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians and other healthcare professionals who may need to recognize and treat patients suffering from several life-threatening emergencies.
Learning Objectives
Identify and apply basic life-saving skills in a cardiac emergency to increase victim survival.
Initiation of chain of survival
Describe BLS algorithms for Adults, Children, and Infants.
Describe importance of early recognition and intervention of ventilation and AED use
Recognizing and treating choking
Identifying and treating opioid overdose
