11.11.20 | TRANSFORMING THE RURAL HEALTHCARE PARADIGM & THE ROLE OF ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTERS IN SUPPORTING REGIONAL RURAL AND TRIBAL HEALTHCARE

The Department of Emergency Medicine Grand Round series provides access to experts in clinical care, teaching, and research. Topics for the 20/21 year will include physician leadership, health systems, health policy, and faculty development topics including resuscitation and critical care where management of trauma or septic patients is variable and time-sensitive, the bench to the bedside application of current findings, improving patient satisfaction, inter-professional communication, role modeling, and efficiency in bedside teaching.

  • Understand health disparities faced by rural Americans
  • Define new payment models proposed for rural hospitals
  • Identify the quality and policy implications of trends in rural ED use

  • Describe how state-based coordination of transfers can improve processes and outcomes
  • Identify effective methods for AMC to support regional rural care delivery
