HIV/AIDS for Healthcare Professionals (Florida Relicensure)
Since the first patients with AIDS were reported in 1981, HIV infection has developed into one of the greatest pandemics in modern times, with devastating socioeconomic and demographic consequences. Since then, some 75 million people have become infected with HIV worldwide and 32 million have died of AIDS. In 2019, 1.7 million individuals became newly infected and some 38 million live with HIV, not all of whom have access to antiretroviral therapy (ART). In this online course, William Short, M.D., will discuss how to appropriately screen and diagnose patients with HIV as well as identify the unique primary care needs of people with HIV.
