Pain Management and the 2022 CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain

Pain, in particular chronic pain, continues to impact physical functioning, mental health, and reduced quality of life, and is the leading cause of disability in the United States, leading to updated practice guidelines for prescribing opioids for pain. In addition, federal and state laws continue to evolve to support safe pain management practices and safe opioid prescribing practices, while prescriptive authority of various practitioners is expanding.

This self-paced activity provides learners with essential information that aims to expand their clinical knowledge and practical skills to become proficient at treating pain and prescribing controlled substances.

This 3.0 hour online course is intended to meet state pain management re-licensure requirements as well as the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act for practitioners renewing or obtaining a new DEA license.
