This course will provide an overview of the pathophysiology of pain, the components of a comprehensive pain assessment, and discuss nonpharmacological and non-opioid pharmacological management of pain. It will also discuss the core aspects of prescribing opioids for pain, including best-practice opioid prescribing guidelines, proper monitoring of patients on long-term opioid therapy, and the clinical features of opioid misuse/OUD.
